Obituary Online notes for Darrell Edward WHITESELL
Darrell Edward Whitesel, 87, went to the Lord peacefully on Dec. 9, 2018 at Countryside Manor Healthcare Center in Anderson. Darrell was born Aug. 9, 1931 at his grandparents' home on Third Street in Anderson. He married Mary Lois Vaughn on July 28, 1951 at South Meridian Church of God in Anderson. He was then drafted into the Marines and served two years during the Korean War. He established the well-known Whitesel's Donuts Shoppe at 1411 W. 53rd St., Anderson. He sold this business and retired in 1981.
He then enjoyed fixing antique clocks, gardening, building furniture, his tractor, as well as many hours loving his grand and great-grandchildren.
Darrell was preceded in death by his brother, Berming Gale; his parents, Virgil and Elizabeth; his sister, Arlene Biby; and beloved grandson, Joshua.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Pam, Darrell, Timothy Melinda, and Darlene; sisters, Mary and June; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at South Meridian Church of God, Anderson. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Dale D. Landis, and the Rev. Jerry Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Grovelawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
