Kay Sharpe Black, 90, of Graham passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on Friday, September 2, 2022.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Donald Black and the daughter of Arthur “A.D.” Sharpe and Preto Capps Sharpe, both deceased. She retired from Western Electric and was a member of The Pioneer Club. She was a volunteer with Hospice and a member of New Covenant Fellowship. Kay was a Master Poundcake baker and enjoyed giving them to family and friends. She loved painting landscapes and her ceramic dolls. She loved playing cards with her friends and eating Zacks hotdogs. Kay was an avid UNC Tarheel basketball and Carolina Panthers fan. She will be remembered as a kind and generous person by all those who knew her.
Survivors include her children, Kathy McDonald and husband John Provetero, Chuck Hayes and wife Angelia, and Michelle Rector; granddaughter, Amber McDonald and husband Harley Rohloff; great grandchild, Harley A. Rohloff; and a brother, Larry Sharpe and wife Bonnie.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette Bryant, Geraldine Allen, and Edna Trull; four brothers, Richard Sharpe, Jimmy Sharpe, Harold Sharpe, and Ben Sharpe; and a sister-in-law, Doris Sharpe.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm by Pastor David Neff with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park. Following the committal service, the family will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Covenant Fellowship Church, 1913 Rogers Road, Graham, NC 27253 261, Kay Sharpe Black
