Irene Snow Sharpe, 76, of Youngsville was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 7, 2011. She was born on February 11, 1934, in Surry County to the late William C. and Lela Mae Tolbert Snow.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Richard C. Sharpe, and a brother Joseph W. Snow.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 9, 2011, in the Pine Forest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. John Wright officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Sharpe is survived by sons, Tony Sharpe and his wife, Dee, of Charlotte and Jeffery Sharpe of Louisburg; daughters, Sandi Barbour and husband, David, of Youngsville, Lisa Liles and husband, Anthony, of Youngsville, and Kristi Baker and husband, Larry, of Youngsville; granddaughters, Savannah Barbour, Sarah Liles and Samantha Liles; several step-grandchildren; a sister, Rachael Snow Jarrell; and brothers, Raymond L. Snow and Swanson C. Snow, all of Mount Airy, NC.
Irene was the Youngsville Librarian for 15 years and was instrumental in fundraising for the new library building. Her love of books and people make her a wonderful resource and friend to all who knew her. She was an inspiration to her children and example of a true Southern Lady. Irene was devoted to her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
