Billy Ray Thompson, 78, of Galax, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1933 to the late Charlie Levora & William Thompson in Woodlawn, VA.
Survivors include wife, Virginia Thompson of the home; two sons, Tony Thompson & wife, Jeanne & Terry Thompson & wife, Michelle all of Galax; two grandchildren, Julie Ann Thompson & Kassidy Rae Thompson; a special niece, Alma Bobbitt of Lambsburg; several nieces & nephews also survive.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at Haven of Rest Bible Church beginning at 2pm. The Rev. Keith Ledford and Rev. Vinton Quesenberry will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven of Rest Bible Church Cemetery.
Military rites by Grayson Post #7726. Mr. Thompson will lie in state one hour prior to service. Family will be receiving friends Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Twin County Funerals Sanctuary from 7pm until 9pm.
Flowers are appreciated or donations can be made to Haven of Rest Bible Church 2757 Fishers Gap Road, Galax, VA 24333 for the Grandchildren's College fund or to the Church's Building fund. Presently, the family is gathering at the home of Tony & Jeanne Thompson on Fishers Gap Road, Galax.
Visitations: 7:00PM to 9:00PM on Thursday, July 14th, 2011 at Twin County Funerals Sanctuary
Services: In-state at 1:00PM, Service at 2:00PM at Haven Of Rest Bible Church on Friday, July 15th, 2011
