Geraldine “Jerrie” Somers Davis
BURLINGTON — Geraldine “Jerrie” Somers Davis, age 77, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Guilford County and the wife of 56 years to Harold Love Davis who survives.
Jerrie retired after 33 years from the Employment Security Commission as a placement supervisor. She graduated from Women’s College of University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BS degree in Chemistry. Jerrie was a member of The First Baptist Church of Elon and a member of the Celestial Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Love Davis of the home; her daughters, Kara Davis of Raleigh and Leah Davis and her husband, Bryan Kluttz of Burlington and a granddaughter, Cailin Kluttz; and brother, Ross Somers of Beaufort, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Edward Somers and Epsie Tesh Somers; brother, Sam Somers; and her sister, Rachel Grant.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Elon by the Rev. Mark Mofield and a private burial will be at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
