EASTHAMPTON - Leslie H. Somers, 68, of Easthampton died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Born Nov. 23, 1942 in Greensboro, NC., he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Lee Somers. He moved to Springfield with his family at an early age, where he attended schools and graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1961, He also attended Western New England College.
He was employed by Peter Pan Bus Lines and managed the Hartford Station and Travel lines, retiring in 2006. He kept active and worked part time for Green Cab Co.
He was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church in Northampton, and was now a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Northampton. Leslie enjoyed his garden and fishpond and his devoted family
Besides his wife Janice Pelletier Somers, he is survived by one daughter, Debra Winkler and husband Jim of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; one brother, Gary Somers of Chicopee; one sister, Sandy Beaulieu of Florida; two brothers-in-law, Peter Pelletier of Easthampton and Merle Pelletier of Clinton.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Tracy Somers; two sisters, Patricia Somers and Geraldine Coppolo, and one brother, Michael Somers.
Friends and relatives will meet at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on King Street in Northampton for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday Aug. 30 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Easthampton. In lieu of flowers, donation in Leslie's memory may be given to the D'Amour Center for Cancer Care, 3350 Main St., Springfield, MA, 01199.
