Charles Reed, 89, 1257 North U.S. 27, Portland, passed away Monday in Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Jay County on February 13, 1921, the son of Charles F. and Hazel Ethel (Bubp) Reed. He was married June 28, 1941 to Betty Price and she passed away March 2, 1988. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He retired in 1978 from Sheller-Globe where he was an engineering manager. He was a member of the American Legion Post #211, Jay Lodge #87 F.& A.M., Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was a 1939 Portland High School graduate.
Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Reidy of Fort Wayne, and Roxanne Varnau of Big Long Lake, IN; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Strietelmeier presiding. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville. Visitation will be Thursday from 3-7 p.m. with Masonic Services at 6:45 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital. 470, Charles Reed
