Peter was in the United States Civil War - Sgt - 4th OVC Co. D (Ohio Volunteer Cakvary). He was captured at Athens Tn. in May 1862. He was held for 6 weeks at Mason Ga. He escaped for 17 days. He was recaptured and spent 3 months in Savannah Ga. Sent back to Macon and was released May 1863 for disability. He applied for his pension in 1889
