Obituary Online notes for Mary Elizabeth KOPPEN
Mary Elizabeth Koppen Whitesell, 95, of Kansas City North, passed away on December 9, 2011, at home with her family.
Mrs. Whitesell grew up in St. Joseph, Mo., where she graduated from St. Joseph Junior College. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 31 years, initially as a clerical supervisor in St. Louis, Mo., and later as an auditor in Kansas City, Mo. After her retirement, she worked as a sales clerk for Macy's and later Dillard's at the Antioch Mall. She was a member of the Oblates of Conception Abbey and the Alter Society of St. Gabriel's parish in Kansas City North.
Mrs. Whitesell is survived by her husband, Frank M. Whitesell; daughter, Mary Charlotte Doyle; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Johannah Doyle, Joseph Leo Doyle and John Francis Doyle; three sisters Harriet Koppen Brown, Judith Koppen Whalen, Carol Antonia Koppen, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Johannah Draut Koppen; father, Harry Theodore Koppen ; brother, William Anthony Koppen and sister, Charlotte Jane Koppen.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gabriel's Parish with visitation and the rosary at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery in Kansas City.
