Obituary Online notes for “Jim” James C. WHITESELL
Resident of Alpharetta, GA. Son of Gertrude (Derks) and David Earl Whitesell.
He had worked in the food industry for a few years before he and a partner began thinking about starting their own business. After doing some research, they decided Atlanta would be a good place to start a frozen food brokerage. He was co-founder and president of Specialty Food Sales Co. Inc., which represented frozen food companies such as Ore-Ida, the Idaho-based maker of Tater Tots, and other frozen potato products. He retired in 1990. Since "retirement" he served as vice president if Ocean Gallery Seafood Company based in Green Cove Springs, FL. He was also was part of an investment club, made up of food industry executives, that met at the legendary Manuel's Tavern from the 1960s until recently.
Surviving are his wife of fifty three years, Melita Hogan Whitesell; son, Dr. James B (Bart) Whitesell and Judy of Alpharetta; daughters, Judge Beth Lammers and Matt of Dunwoody, Dr. Susan Reynolds and Paul of Canton, Patricia Kopec and John of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Shannon, Kelly, and Scott Whitesell, Bridgid and Meghan Lammers, Andrew and Patrick Reynolds, and Hannah, Katherine, and Sophie Kopec; sister, Jane Cheeseman of Corpus Christi, TX; and brother, Frank Whitesell of Kansas City, MO.
