Michael "Mike" Dean Joyce


    BURLINGTON — Michael "Mike" Dean Joyce, 56, of 7056 Pagetown Road, died from a home accident, Tuesday, July 21, 2009. He was the husband of Debborah Cantrell Joyce and was born July 28, 1952 in Rockingham County to the late Paul Allen and Anna Yeatts Joyce.

    Mike was a dedicated husband, daddy and pawpaw and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He loved sharing his passion for hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, Sean and Shelby. Mike was a fun-loving, caring man and always willing to help someone in need. He always had a smile on his face and was glad to see you. He was employed by Chandler Concrete for 20 years.

    Mike is survived by his wife Debbie Joyce of the home; daughters, Tammy Joyce of Elon and Kim (Billy) Blanchard of Burlington; a son Jeffrey (Tonya) Joyce of Burlington; grandchildren, Sean-Michael Joyce and Shelby Joyce; sisters, Jesse (Sylvester) McKinney of Burlington, Nancy (William) Ribelin of Yanceyville, Judy (Milton) Neese of Graham, Linda (Richard) Thomasson of Georgia; brothers, James Joyce of Burlington and George (Carol Jean) Joyce of Elon.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Mae Wheeler; brothers, M. Gene Joyce and Robert Allen Joyce.

    The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Darrell Massey. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

    The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 Friday evening at the funeral home and at other times at their home.
