Having lived a full and active life, Richard "Bob" Robert WEST, 94, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
Bob, the son of the late Richard Overby WEST was born in Moyock, North Carolina. He was predeceased by his adopted parents, Sherwin and Helan HOWARD, and his sister, Maywood West ELROD.
Bob was the beloved husband of his wife Alice, for 64 years. He was blessed to have two daughters Connie and Alice CLAY; four grandchildren Chuck and wife Andra, Chris, Jessica and Emma, and one great-granddaughter, Kaitlin. He was also blessed to know his daughter-by-heart, Lan ZICKEFOOSE, young neighbors, Spencer, Emma Grace and Joseph, dear and loving friends, Josephine and Daniel THOMAS, and sister-in-law, Lavern HUMPHRIES.
Bob graduated from East Carolina Teachers' College (now East Carolina University). He began his professional life teaching, enjoyed working in sales for many years, and ended his working career by operating Oceana Driving School for 18 years. He was a longtime member of Providence Presbyterian Church. The family held a private burial in Rosewood Memorial park on Sunday, March 2, 2014 to celebrate his life.
