Dwight "Dick" V. Adams, 68, of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at Halifax Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family.
Dick was born July 29, 1942, in Norfolk, VA, the son of the late James Rufus Adams and Layla Navalle Dovie Tickel.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids since he was a young boy. He had a passion for race cars and Harleys, but his greatest loves were God, his wife, children and grandbabies.
Survivors include his wife of almost 38 years, Judy Mitchell Adams, of Roanoke Rapids; his brother, James Henry Adams and his wife, Faye, of Elm City; two daughters, Susan Clements Wilhelm and her husband, Jeff, and Lori Clements Jones and her husband, Russell; one son, Michael Wayne Clements and his wife, Sheri, all of Roanoke Rapids; eight grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Caitlyn, Sara, Lindsey, Ben, James and Allison; and one great-grandchild, Aiden.
The family will receive friends will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, Jan. 18, at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 19, in the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Bane Angles officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
