Obituary
Laura Ann Teague Thompson, 93, of Snow Camp, NC passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

A native of Snow Camp, NC, she was the wife of the late Charles Dale Thompson and the daughter of Rev. York Teague and Alice Mae Teague, both deceased. She was a 1949 graduate of Sylvan High School in Snow Camp, NC, a 1952 graduate of North Carolina Baptist Hospital Nursing School in Winston-Salem, NC, and earned her Certified Family Nurse Practitioner degree from University of North Carolina School of Nursing at Chapel Hill in 1976.

Laura’s love for helping people led her to be a pioneer in her field as she was employed in many capacities over her career from serving as registered nurse at the 2795th United States Air Force Hospital, Pediatric Head Nurse at Memorial Hospital, to Director of Nursing Services at Skilled Nursing.  Her most notable role was director and primary care provider at the first Rural Community Health Center in Snow Camp from 1975-1980.  Laura continued her passion by establishing a Home Health Agency and serving as coordinator for Maternal and Child Health Programs at the Alamance County Health Department where she retired with 13 years of service.  Her dedication and commitment to promoting better public health in Alamance County earned her numerous awards and recognitions during her career.

Laura also had a love for community.  Laura was a member of Cane Creek Friends Meeting where she loved the Lord, her church family, and dedicated her time to preserving the church's history.  She also volunteered her time at the Sword of Peace for many years, spending countless hours working in the gift shop.  She will be forever remembered for being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who went above and beyond to keep the family circle alive.

Survivors include a son, Timothy Dale Thompson and wife Linda of Snow Camp; granddaughter, Brittany Thompson Heizer and husband Derek of Snow Camp; two great grandsons, Barrett York Heizer and Palmer Brooks Heizer; God-granddaughter, Makayla Marie Hoell; brother, Carlyle Teague; sister, Martha Rogers; sister-in-law, Susie Staley, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by six siblings, Virginia Kimball, Franklin Teague, Marion Teague, Dwight Teague,  Louise Wilson, and Larry Teague.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cane Creek Friends Meeting on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 3:00 p.m with Dr. Cheryl Benson presiding.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends following the committal service.
