William G. "Dude" Wyrick, age 94, of McLeansville, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A Cryptside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Lakeview Memorial Park Mausoleum, 3600 N. O'Henry Blvd., Greensboro.
William was born on November 19, 1926, in Guilford County to the late William Arthur Wyrick and Minnie Payne Wyrick. He retired from the Greensboro News and Record in 1991 after 48 years of dedication which began in 1943. He was better known as "Dude" to his colleagues and friends and as Gilbert to his family. After retirement William spent many years working at Bryant Century Hardware in McLeansville. His most enjoyable activities were driving, playing golf and most of all mowing his lawn.
He is survived by his loving wife Peggy C. Wyrick, daughter Patrice W. Burchell and husband Johnny, stepdaughters, Susan H. White, and Vicki H. Brown and husband Scott, stepson Bill Harper and wife Alice, sister June W. Alderman, sister Gayle W. Loggins and husband Jerry as well as eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson Jack Harper.
The Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Funeral Chapel in Greensboro.
