STOKESDALE – Dorothy “Dot” Williams Brown, 87, died on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Annie Penn Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m., Wednesday at the church and all other times at Mrs. Brown’s residence.

Mrs. Brown was born on April 5, 1931 in Rockingham County to the late, Paul Herbert Williams and Cora Elizabeth Stills Williams. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of whom she longed to be with since 1972, C.H. “Toad” Brown; brothers, Billy Williams, James Williams, Herbert Williams and Raymond Williams; sisters, Lee Williams, Nancy Williams, Thelma Hill, Lena Mabe, Carolyn Passmore and Vina Cornwell.

Survivors include her daughters, Wanda Shelton (Jimmy) and Donna Walker (Timothy Nisbet); grandchildren, Chad Shelton (Patti), Leeanne Hayes, Derrick Shelton and Ashley Prevette; great-grandchildren, Brittany Prevette, Annabel Hayes, Olivia Shelton and Bayden Shelton; granddaughter at heart, Jessica Flynt and several special extended family members.

Dot was a faithful member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was formerly employed as produce manager at Bi-Rite Grocery and also at Washington Mills. Dot wasn’t afraid of hard work. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed the fruits of her labor. She was the foundation of her family and will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank the physicians and nurses on the second and third floor of Annie Penn Hospital for their loving and attentive care.
