Warren Douglas Leonard, 84, of Charlotte, NC, passed away at home on Sunday, December 21, 2014.
He was born on March 26, 1930 in Guilford County to the late Fred and Mary Leonard.
He was raised in Greensboro, NC and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. Warren was a Staff Sergeant in the Army, 10th Special Forces. He worked in the textile industry, played baseball in the Special Forces and for UNC-Chapel Hill, and also enjoyed golf.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Brenda Leonard; sons, Michael Leonard (Kate) and Douglas Leonard (DeAnn); and daughters, Michelle Odette (Andy) and Ashley Leonard. Additional survivors include his sister, Mary Lee Foster; grandson, Beck Leonard; and grand-daughters, Blake Allman, Lucy Leonard and Brendan Allman.
Warren was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Cox and brother, Dempsey Leonard.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014, at Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception immediately following in the church atrium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcome and should be directed to Novant Health Hospice or to Providence United Methodist Church. T.H. Robertson Funeral &; Cremation Service is serving the family, www.throbertson.com.
