HOBBS, NEW MEXICO-Graveside services for Winford Lowell "W. L." Harris, 89, Hobbs, New Mexico, formerly of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rev. John Haynes will officiate. The family will receive friends from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris died Monday, June 15, 2009 in Hobbs, NM. He was born February 25, 1920 at Pikes City, Arkansas. He attended school in Ada and received a Bachelor's degree from East Central State College.
He married Earline Gurley on March 4, 1944 in Ada, Oklahoma. There were married for 65 years. Mr. Harris had been employed with Halliburton Energy Services for 31 years retiring as Assistant District Manager. He was an expert woods craftsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. Mr. Harris was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Hobbs.
Survivors include his wife Earline Harris, of the home; one son, James Lowell "Jim" Harris, Hobbs, NM; one daughter, Retta Jean Hamilton, Vancouver, Washington; a granddaughter, Lana Yvonne Carroll, Vancouver, Washington; and two great granddaughters, Serena and Brittaney Carroll, Vancouver, Washington.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Harris and Lawrence Harris; and one sister, Ida Frances Ezell.
