Alice Belle "Coochie" McKee

Alice Belle (Coochie) McKee, age 81 of Seguin passed away on March 18, 2010.

Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel on Monday, March 22, 2010 followed by services at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Gibson Nesbit officiating.

Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.

Alice was born on March 10, 1929 in Eagle Lake, Texas to Tom and Nellie Branstatter Clapp.

In 1940 at the age of 11 she made her profession of faith and was confirmed and joined the Methodist Church in Eagle Lake.

She married Frank Ruby in 1948. To this union one son, Ronald Frank Ruby was born. Alice moved to Seguin in 1955 and became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seguin in 1962.

In 1970 she married John McKee and his children were Larry, James, Marion and Connie.

She is preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 step-daughter, and 3 brothers-in-law; survivors include her son Ronald Ruby and wife Marcy; granddaughters, Kimberly Ruby and her daughters, Whitney and Rebecca; Amber Story and husband Chris and their daughters, Ashton, Cassidy and Peyton; stepdaughter, Connie Lewis and husband Curtis; step-sons, Larry McKee and wife Pam and James Mckee;4 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Burns, Shannon Truelock, Colt Arnold, Hunter Arnold, Larry McKee and Allen McKee.

Alice never lost her faith or love for God, her family or her friends. Alice’s never-ending, unconditional love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were evident to anyone she met. Alice thought her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lit up a room with her smile and laughter. An avid bingo, domino, and cardplayer, she loved the opportunity to spend time with friends. Most importantly, she was a strong, courageous woman and leaves behind the many she has inspired. Memorial contributions may be made to the Guadalupe Valley Family Violence Shelter, P. O. Box 1302, Seguin, Texas, 78156.
