Obituary Online notes for Lavonne KENNEDY
GERMANTON - Mrs. LaVonne Kennedy Absher, 71, of Germanton died at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on Sunday evening, June 25, 2000, after a long period of declining health.

A native of Lancaster County, Neb., she was born on April 22, 1929, to the late John Robert and Eula Fowks Kennedy.

Mrs. Absher was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church for more than 48 years and was retired from AMP Inc.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Whitley and Norma Jean Maines.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold H. Absher of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Kevin Cheek of Germanton; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patricia Absher of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Michele (husband J. Brian) Gibble of Arcadia and Brian Absher of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Elaine Rector of Sparta, Reba Osborne of Piney Creek and Wilma Mason of Asheville; two brothers, Terry and John Kennedy both of Sparta; and a special niece, Mitzi Curry of Rising Sun, Md.

A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Red Bank Baptist Church officiated by Paul Dean, pastor and the Rev. George Hughes.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Rural Hall Chapel.
