Asheville - Wilma Kennedy Mason, 86, passed away on March 8, 2017. Born to Eula Mae and John Robert Kennedy on June 4, 1930 in Lincoln, NE. In 1958, she graduated from the Florida Sanitarium and Hospital as a Registered Nurse and began her life of caring for others. She later retired from the Charles George VA Medical Center in 1996 and was a member of the Fairview Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Ms. Mason is preceded in death by her husband, Norman L. Mason and her siblings, Norma Jean Maines, Pauline Whitely and Lavone Abshire.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth A. Mason (Mack Watkins) of Asheville, NC; her sisters, Elaine Rector (Raymond) and Reba Osborne, both of Sparta, NC. Brothers, John R. Kennedy Jr. of Piney Creek, NC; Terry Kennedy (Mary) of Sparta, NC. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jody Mason Gipson of Port Clinton, OH; Leanne Brackett (Robbie) of Fairview, NC; Charles J. Mason of Fairview, NC, great-grandchildren, Daniel Tipton, Ashley Tipton, Kayla Calloway, Ryder Gipson and one great-great-grandchild, Amara Rose.
Services will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Fairview Seventh-day Adventist Church, 57 Cane Creek Circle, Fairview, NC 28730. 470, Wilma Rose Kennedy Mason
