Jo Ann Black Kennedy, age 76 of Stratford Road, Sparta, NC died Monday, July 27, 2015 at her residence.
She was born December 18, 1938 in Ashe County to the late Dolphus and Edna Turner Black.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bobbie Musgrove and Jerlene Testerman.
She was a member of Mt. Carmel Union Baptist Church since 1957.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Kennedy, Jr., of the home; one daughter, Vivian Kennedy Campbell and husband Page of Advance; one son, Larry Mark Kennedy and wife Cynthia of Potomac Falls, VA; three grandchildren, Eric Campbell and wife Michelle of Mocksville, Brittany Wade and husband Mike of Greensboro, Lacey Kennedy of Potomac Falls, VA; four great-grandchildren, Eric Campbell and Raegan Campbell both of Mocksville, Marlie Wade and Zoey Wade both of Greensboro; two sisters, Josie Hiatt of Effingham, IL, Betty Warren and husband Harry of Wilkesboro; one brother, Walter Black and wife Bonnie of Warrensville; two special friends, Annette Cooper of Piney Creek, Jenna Billings of Sparta; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Kennedy at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Elder Pete Hawks and Elder Alvin Dixon officiating.
Interment will follow at Kennedy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
