September 22, 1930 ~ April 21, 2023
92 Years Old
Norene Coble James, 92, of Snow Camp passed away peacefully at home on Friday April 21st, 2023. Norene was married 68 years to the late Harry Leonard James and born to the late Arce and Etta Coble.
Norene’s life was filled with love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Except for a short period of time working at Kayser-Roth in Burlington, her life was dedicated to the care of her family. A true caregiver, she did this with immeasurable love and determination, always offering support for our trials and triumphs.
Upon marriage to Harry in 1951, they spent their first 2 years together on Chestnut Street in Burlington, prior to moving back to the home of her birth. Norene and Harry spent the remainder of their lives together in Snow Camp. Norene enjoyed an active life bowling with her friends, planting a garden every spring, along with summer beach trips and fall surf fishing with her family. Even in her later years Norene was never idle and enjoyed cooking for her family, taking care of her plants and working puzzles.
Survivors include daughters Connie M Isley and husband Mike of Snow Camp, Susan L Dunbar of Burgaw along with a son Harry L James Jr. and wife Lori of Wilmington. Norene was extremely proud of and survived by 6 grandchildren, Jeremy Smart and wife Jennifer, Joshua Dunbar, Sarah Isley, Harrison James and wife Kaitlin, Savanna Stakely, and Dylan James along with 3 great grandchildren Madelyn Smart, Paxton Smart and Cape James.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Dianne J Stakely along with son in law Peter Dunbar.
The family would like to give special thanks for the amazing in-home care provided by Lisa Baker, Chris Johnson, Brenda Perry and Clara Coble, along with the nurses and staff of Authora Care Collective of Burlington for their care and dedication.
The family will receive friends at Mt Hermon Methodist Church in Graham at 11:00 am Saturday April 29th with funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm.
