Obituary for Harold Gene Sides
Harold (Buddy) Gene Sides went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 5, 2020 surrounded by his loving daughters. Buddy was born in Shelby, North Carolina on October 22, 1935 to the late Greenland Ford Sides, Sr., and Lillie Lindsey Sides. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served 26 years before retiring in1981. He married the love of his life, Linda Smith, on November 23, 1958, and they were married for 62 years.
Buddy was a wonderful family man. He was a loyal and devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Those who knew and cared for Buddy described him as “easy to love”, “a precious man”, and a “beautiful person.” Buddy was a caring friend to all. He loved his neighbors, and church family and delighted in times they gathered.
Buddy always had a great sense of humor and loved to tell a good joke. He had a great love of music and often delighted others with impromptu singing. Anyone who was lucky enough to experience this always cherished the memory. Buddy loved traveling the world, “new” cars, and a great delicious steak. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Bixby-active in his Sunday school class and Rockers church group.
Buddy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda; his parents, Greenland and Lillie; his sisters, Sara, Kathleen, Francis, Jackie, Peggy, Nettie Lou, Evelyn, Pansy; and brother, Ford. He is survived by his three daughters, Lori Morgan and husband, Glen, Trish Burross and husband, Steve, Stephanie Goekeler and husband, Tom; and his grandchildren, Chase and Madison Morgan, Carlie and Cole Goekeler; and grand doggie, Scooter.
Honorary Pallbearers are Glen Morgan, Tom Goekeler, Steve Burross, Chase Morgan, Cole Goekeler and Caleb Gatlin.
