Jeff Clyde McConnell Sr., 97, formerly of Cherry Hill Road, Spartanburg, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Brookdale Skylyn Senior Living.
Born in Clinch Mountain, Tn., he was the husband of the late Leanna Cash McConnell and was first married to the late Lillian Kate Willis McConnell. He was the son of the late Charlie S. McConnell and Matilda Bellamy Mc- Connell.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired insurance salesman, enjoyed gardening, music and repairing clocks. He was a founding member of Beacon Light Tabernacle, First Assembly and Trinity Fellowship, all of Cowpens. He helped build Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle in Gaffney and Church of God of Prophecy in Cowpens.
Surviving are three sons, Charles McConnell and wife, Patsy of Gaffney, Jeff (J.C.) McConnell Jr. and wife, Linda of Cowpens, Pastor Mike McConnell and wife, JoAnn of Spartanburg; four daughters, Carolyn M. Millwood and husband, Herbert (Pat), Jean Ferguson, Joyce Millwood and husband, Kenneth, Amelia Thornton and husband, Horace (Peewee), all of Spartanburg; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, a son-in-law, Bobby Ferguson; two great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at Blakely Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike McConnell and Pastor Lisa Parfitt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Trinity Fellowship, P.O. Box 1075, Cowpens, S.C. 29330 and Mobile Meals, 419 E. Main St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29302.
The family will be at their respective homes.
