Harold Lyle, 86, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota died Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Royal C. Johnson Memorial Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls.

Harold Clarence Lyle was born at Sioux City, Iowa on June 13, 1926 the son of Harold Marshall and Mildred (Brittain) Lyle. He grew up here and graduated form Sioux City East High School. On August 22, 1944 he entered the U.S. Army where he served stateside during WWII until his honorable discharge on July 11, 1946.

He married Irene Severson in 1943 at Dakota City, NE. Three daughters where born to this union.

On December 21, 1964 he married Phyllis Katzenberger at Milbank, SD.

The couple made their home in Sioux Falls, Sioux City, IA, Blue Springs, MO, Lawrence, KS, Fort Worth, TX and Fort Dodge, IA. Phyllis died in 1990 and then Harold moved to Sioux Falls.

Harold was a salesman who sold a variety of goods as he traveled the region. He also managed apartments in several states where the couple had lived. Harold was a Mason in Sioux City and a Shriner in Sioux Falls where he was a member of the Chanters. He loved fishing, bowling, playing the lottery and was a life long St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Besides his parents and wife Phyllis, Harold was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Lyle and one daughter Linda Comer.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children: Sharon Ferleman, Medina, TN, Susan (Mike) Teal, Hornick, IA, Dan (Marla) Paa, Sioux Falls, Donald Paa, Hallam, NE, Darlene (Tommy) Furlong, Elizabethtown, KY and David (Barb) Paa, Keller, TX; 17 grandchildren and many great-grand-children as well as other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Germantown Presbyterian Church, rural Chancellor, SD with burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
