CAPE CORAL, Fla — Virgie B. Edmonds, 95, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Pocahontas, Va., passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 in Ft. Myers. Born in Pocahontas, Va., she was the daughter of the late Guy Boone and Bessie Cochran Boone.
Virgie was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Chicago, Ill. and later moved to Bluefield working for Beneficial Insurance. She also owned and operated Edmonds Market in Pocahontas, Va. until the death of her husband. She then moved to Ft.Myers to be with her family. While there, she volunteered at Health Park Hospital for several years. Virgie enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed her two pet parakeets.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, America E. Edmonds; two brothers, Carl Boone and Glenn Boone; and one sister, Hazel Reed.
Survivors include: Daughter, Jenny Kovach and husband Robert Kovach Sr. of Ft. Myers; one sister, Thelma Lawson of Deposit, Md.; three grandsons, Robert Kovach Jr. and wife Yulia of London, England, Brian Kovach and wife Lori of Hendersonville, Tenn. and Mark Kovach and wife Margarita of Ft. Myers; two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Anastassia Kovach and two great-grandsons, Zachary and Joshua Kovach.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. with the Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, Va. Friends may call Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
