William K. "Bill" Walton Jr., age 75 of Alabaster, Alabama passed away at his home on May 28, 2011.
Bill was born March 31, 1936, in Burlington, North Carolina to William K. Sr. and Ruth Geraldine Walton.
He was a graduate of Walter Williams High School in Burlington, North Carolina in 1954.
Shortly thereafter he joined the United States Air Force. He began working for Southern Railway (Norfolk Southern) in 1961 and retired after 34 years of service as a 'Trainmaster' in 1995.
He was known by many simply as 'Pop', affectionately named by his two granddaughters. He was a proud member of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Helena, Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Ann Walton; sons Ricky (Terri), granddaughter Miranda all of Orlando, FL. & Jason of Mobile, AL., granddaughter Brianna of Calera, AL, his sister Peggy (Gerry) Hodge of Burlington, North Carolina, niece Kim Patterson and nephew Jeffrey Hodge.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 31, 2011 at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm with a short service following. Burial will be directly after in the Southern Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 120 Laurel Woods Dr. Helena, AL 35080, in his name. 470, William Kitchen “Bill” Walton Jr.
