Homer Zenith McKinney, 90, died Friday, September 15, 2006, at the Penn Nursing Center Reidsville.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday in Lowe's United Methodist Church Cemetery with his son-in-law, Dr. Tom Collins and Rev. Chuck Byers officiating.
Mr. McKinney was born on July 5, 1916, in Rockingham County to the late Joe Bush and Lula Somers McKinney.
He was a farmer. When he retired from farming he worked at the Sylvania Plant in Reidsville.
Mr. McKinney handcrafted toothpicks for years and received great joy in gifting them to relatives and friends.
He was fond of hunting and fishing and assisted in the development of a wildlife lake near his home.
He was a baseball fan and a baseball player of renown in the local region.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Wright; two brothers, Carl McKinney, Clyde McKinney; and a great grandson, Dakota Solomon.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Roberts McKinney and others. 470, Homer Zenith McKinney
