Obituary Online notes for Rev. James Willard STANLEY Sr.
Rev. James Willard Stanley, Sr., 66, of Greensboro, N.C., went to be with his Heavenly Savior on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at his home with his family and close friends by his side.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Pastor Stanley will be laid to rest at Lakeview Memorial Park next to his beloved wife, Lois Carol Johnson Stanley, who died in March of 2004.

He retired from Cone Mills after 35 years of service as a truck driver; but more importantly, Pastor Stanley was the minister at Gospel Roads Baptist Church for over 24 years.

Along with his wife, Pastor Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Masel Stanley.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Rachel Stanley, Jerry and Tamisha Stanley, all of Greensboro, and Randy and Betsy Orr of Raleigh; grandchildren, Dustin, Joshua, Caleb, Matthew, Courtney, Dalton, Zackery and Luke; and siblings, Dick, "Sister" Kirksey, Ronnie, Mickey, and Art Lee.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, at George Brothers Funeral Service. On Saturday, the Gospel Roads Baptist Church family will travel to Southport, N.C., to share the gospel and free water with the July 4th parade visitors, a mission that Pastor Stanley had been planning for months.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gospel Roads Baptist Church, 1001 E. Joyner Street, Gibsonville, NC 27249. Published in News Record on July 3, 2009 (edited)
