Thomas Wayne Trexler, Sr., 73, of Summerfield, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Mr. Trexler's funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Summerfield Baptist Temple.
A Guilford County native, Wayne was born on July 7, 1941, the son of the late Julius O. Trexler, Sr. and Nora Brookbank Trexler. He was a long-time and active member of Summerfield Baptist Temple and was retired from Piedmont Natural Gas Company. Following his retirement, he worked for Guilford County Schools as a bus driver. On July 10, 1963, Wayne married Jerri Winfree.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-one years, Jerri Trexler of the home; children Thomas Wayne Trexler, Jr. and wife, Lori, of Kernersville, Amanda Trexler Epperson of Cleveland, TN and her husband, Jeremy and Jimmy Trexler and his wife, Alisha, of Walkertown; five grandchildren Tanner Trexler, Hope Trexler, Anais Epperson, Bryson Epperson, and Addalyn Trexler; sister Deloris Wilder of Liberty and brother Donny Trexler of N. Myrtle Beach; special niece and nephew Pam Lineberry of Liberty and Ricky Pegram of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his brothers James Trexler and Julius Trexler, Jr.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Summerfield Baptist Temple.
