JULIAN- Mr. James Robert Ray, 87, died Tuesday at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coble's Lutheran church by the Rev. Grady Beaver. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Mr. Ray was an Army veteran of WWII having received three bronze stars. He was employed with Heath and Sons Masonry for 30 years. After retirement he still continued in his trade for many years. He was a lover of all things outdoors, including gardening, hunting, and fishing. He also had a special love for his grandchildren and his great grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Mettawea Coble Ray; son, James Thomas Ray and wife Martha of Liberty; daughters, Patsy Ray Allred and husband Bill of Ramseur; Anne Ray Beasley and husband Wayne of Ramseur; a sister, Annie Ray Moore of Greensboro; grandchildren, Jeremy Ray; Stephen Allred; Rachel Allred; Nathan Beasley; Hannah Beasley; and Matthew Beasley; and one great-grandchild, Ivy Ray.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty.
