Corinna Apple Graham of the McCray and Union Ridge Communities died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 6, 2023 at the age of 99.
Corinna was born on October 9, 1924 in Caswell County, North Carolina to Arthur and Katherine McKinney Apple. Losing both parents at age 12, Corinna was raised by her sister Lizzie and P.L. Coleman. The Coleman family became her immediate family. She was married to Louis Holt Graham for 58 years. Louis went to heaven ahead of her.
Corinna graduated from Pleasant Grove High School as a member of the Class of 1942. She then attended the Danville Memorial School of Nursing in Danville, Virginia. She served in the Army Nurse Cadet Corp during World War II.
She was a Registered Nurse for over forty years. She worked in all four Alamance County hospitals and retired from Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was an excellent emergency room triage nurse in all four hospitals. She also served as Director of Nurses at Alamance County Hospital.
She enjoyed fishing and needlework in her spare time. Family members had plenty of sweaters and scarfs to keep warm made by her loving hands. She enjoyed gardening growing flowers and vegetables.
Corinna is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline G. Sawyer and husband Larry of Fairburn, Georgia and Kezia G. Workman and husband Edsel of Burlington. She was a loving Grandmother to Kristina S. Johnston and husband Eric of Newnan, Georgia, Michael G. Workman and wife Tracy of Burlington, North Carolina, and Gregory A. Workman of Carrboro, North Carolina.
Corinna leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren Corinna Kathleen Workman and Wilson Holt Workman of Burlington, NC and Sarah Katherine Johnston of Newnan, Georgia.
Corinna also leaves behind a large family of loving nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She also leaves behind her dedicated and loving caregivers, Earlene Blackwell and Hattie Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Lizzie Coleman, Arthur (Bud) Apple, Florence Stadler, Mae Cardwell, Esther Rudd, Estelle Oliver, Juanita Brummitt, and Robert Lee apple.
In celebration of her life a service of worship and thanksgiving for the life of Corinna Apple Graham will be held at Union Ridge Church at 3 o’clock November 9, 2023.
Pallbearers will be Michael Workman, Gregory Workman, Eric Johnston, Holt Workman, Wade Apple, and Henry Chandler.
Interment following the service will be in the Union Ridge Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be in Union Ridge Church before the service on Thursday between the hours of 2 and 3 p.m.
