Dorothy Fields Hinshaw

Dorothy Fields Hinshaw, 88, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  She was the daughter of the late Arthur Bryant Fields and Betty Pearl Bowman Fields and was married for 29 years to Colon Gilmer Hinshaw, who passed away in 1982. 

Dorothy retired after years of waitressing at different restaurants in Alamance County, the most recent being 40 West Bar and Grill.  She enjoyed her work as well as cooking for her family.  Her cooking was the greatest way to bring family and friends together at her table.  Her family remembers her for her hard work ethic.   

She is survived by her children; James Carlton Hinshaw and wife, Sylvia, Gilmer Hinshaw and wife, Debbie, Jan Talbert, Robert Hinshaw and wife, Sherry, Pat Terrell and Richard Hinshaw and wife, Annette.  Dorothy had 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren as well as her siblings, Martin Fields and Martha Morton. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; Colon Gilmer Hinshaw, parents; Arthur and Betty Fields, grandson; Jason Hinshaw and siblings; Joe, John, A.B., Ralph and Ruth. 

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 28th, 2023 at Pine Hill Cemetery by Rev. John Shields.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 prior to the service on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home. 256, Dorothy Fields Hinshaw
