Mrs. Janice Coleman Payne, 59, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at 4:08 a.m. at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Burlington.
She was a graduate of Graham High School and attended Campbell University. She was employed with the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill School of Nursing, where she held the office of Registrar for 33 years, until retiring in July, 2005. She loved her students and was very proud of each and every one of them. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Graham and an avid Tar Heel fan.
The family would like to thank all of our friends for their thoughts and prayers through her illness, especially the ""wonderful"" Hospice staff for the care given while at home and then while at the Hospice Home on Chapel Hill Road. They are the most caring and giving people you will ever meet.
Survivors include her husband, David Ralph Payne, of the home; son, Scott C. Walker of Burlington; stepson, David Jason Payne and wife Crystal of Haw River; mother, Mary Carol Coleman of Hawfields Presbyterian Home; grandchildren of whom she was so proud, Jace Walker, Taryn Payne and Tyler Payne; sister, Gwen Sharpe and husband Billy of Burlington; sister-in-law, Louisa Payne Allen of Greensboro; mother-in-law who loved and cherished Janice, Faye Payne Alexander of Burlington; nieces and nephews, Brad Sharpe, Kristen Sharpe, Carr Allen and Amy Allen.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Wilbur Coleman. 470, Janice Coleman Payne
