George "Howard" Dawson, a native of Guilford County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 6:43 pm. He was surrounded by his loving family. Howard, affectionately known as "Pawpaw", was 79 years old.

His sweetheart, Peggy, of 60 years, came into his life when they were in seventh grade. They were engaged in their junior year of high school and were married after graduation on July 7, 1962. Peggy was his greatest love.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mazelle Dawson, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jesse and Evelyn Brown, brothers, Herman, Roy, John, and Raymond, and his sisters, Bertha, Mary, and Francis.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Peggy; his son, Bobby Dawson(Joan), daughter, Lisa Frandock(Chris), granddaughters Michelle, Lauren, Taylor, Kristy, and Kathryn, and great grandsons, Smith, Henry, and Barnes, brother Staley Dawson, and sisters Fanny Clark and Louise Newell.

Visitation will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church from 10:00-11:30 am with funeral services following at 12:00 pm. The graveside service will be in the church cemetery with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 300 Knox Road McLeansville, NC 27301.
