Alton passed away on March 29, 2013 at Huntington Place, Rockledge, FL. He was born in Burlington, NC on February 28, 1930.

He was the 6th child of 8, of Charles Egbert and Edith (Truitt) Greeson. He played football for Burlington High School; then his parents moved to Cocoa in 1948, where he played football for Cocoa High's undefeated team. While still a senior in high school, Alton played on the Hinds Junior College's football team for the 1949 season. He graduated from Cocoa High School in 1950, and as a freshman in the 1950 season, he played starting tackle for Western Carolina Teachers College in Cullowhee, NC.

In 1951, he joined the Navy during the height of the Korean War.

He served four years in the US Navy on the destroyer, USS Marshall DD676 in the Pacific-Campaigns included Korea, United Nations and China. Shortly after getting out of the Navy, Alton received a head injury from a car accident in 1955, which kept him from returning to school for his last 3 years of college and football.

Alton is survived by four brothers, Robert, Charles Jr., Ralph and Richard.

Alton Truitt Greeson died at Huntington Place in Rockledge.

He was the 6th child of 8 of Charles Egbert and Edith Truitt Greeson. Alton graduated from Cocoa High, attended Western Carolina Teachers College in Cullowhee, NC and was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War on the destroyer, USS Marshall DD676.

Surviving are brothers, Robert, Charles, Jr, Ralph and Richard. Memorial services will be held at a later date in NC. Published in FLORIDA TODAY on April 2, 2013
