Robert Hanner was the son of John Hanner (b. 1746, probably in Virginia, d. 29 Oct 1792, Surry County, North Carolina) and Martha Doak (b. 1747, possibly in Guilford County, d. aft 1794, probably in Surry County, North Carolina).
