Doris Marie Fogleman Hornaday, 89, of Graham passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on Friday, October 5. 2024.
A native of Alamance County, she was the loving wife of 66 years to Roy Zelle Hornaday, Jr., who survives and the daughter of Rev. James U. Fogleman, Sr. and Joy Murray Fogleman, both deceased.
Doris worked at Kayser Roth for more than 20 years before she and Roy moved to Brunswick County and she was able to stay at home and raise their boys. Doris enjoyed working in her flower gardens, taking care of her animals and being a homemaker. She was a member of Rock Creek Methodist Church.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. In addition to her husband of their home, she is survived by two sons, Charles Wayne Hornaday and Roy Zelle “Chip” Hornaday, III. and his wife Hilaria; five grandchildren, Steven Hornaday, Shanna Gill and her husband Daniel, Jacob “Jake” Hornaday, Jenni Hornaday and Reyes “Junior” Gomez; two great grandchildren, Zelle and Colton Gill; and five sisters, Virginia Farrell, Rebecca Wyatt, Betty Long, Joyce “Judy” Crawford and her husband Ronnie, and Martha Sharpe.
She was preceded in death by five siblings, James U. Fogleman, Jr., Mary Catherine Fogleman, Herman A. Fogleman, Henry D, Fogleman, and Corp. Jacob C. Fogleman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham at 1:00 pm. The family requests that you dress casually for the service.
