TRENTON, GA - William "Bill Tatum, 82, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011, as owner and President of Trenton Telephone Company.
He fulfilled his lifelong dream of providing telephone service to Dade County and surrounding areas for over 60 years. He was an active member of the Georgia Telephone Association and served as President from 1990-1991. He was a graduate of Dade County High School class of 1947.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Maxie Tatum; sister, Marguerite Gray Neville; two brothers, John Tatum and James "Bud"Tatum.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Tatum, Trenton, GA; children, Pam (Danny) Hibbs, Trenton, GA, Steve (Kristi) Tatum, Trenton, GA, Vicki (Mickey) Ridge, Rising Fawn, GA, Beth (Tony) Jones, Trenton, GA; brother, Robert "Bob" M. Tatum, of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters-in-law, Doris Tatum and Eena Tatum, of Trenton, GA; grandchildren are Jonathan Hibbs, Emily (Colt) Drouillard, Will Tatum, Chris Tatum, Michael Ridge; three great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel with Dr. David Harr and the Rev. Reece Fauscett officiating.
Interment will be in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
Family will receive friends 6 till 9 p.m. Tuesday and noon until service time Wednesday.
