MARGARET'S OBITUARY
Margaret Lillian Hurd, age 93, of Grant passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont. Margaret was born on January 2, 1929, in a farmhouse west of Bailey, Michigan, to Edward C. and Ella M. (Graham) Hallberg. Margaret grew up on a farm with a large family and had many fond memories of her childhood. She had an interesting life, working in restaurants as a waitress and a cook, telephone operator, punch press operator, spot welder, store clerk, and floral designer. Margaret enjoyed painting, sewing, reading, quilting, and crocheting. The happiest times in Margaret's life were when she was married and when her children were born.
Margaret is survived by her children, Gloria (John) Crofoot of New Era, Dianna (Marc) Hargis of Kalamazoo, Dennis Schultz of Norton Shores, Sheri (Tim) Dailey of Grant, and Pamela (Dave) Osborn of Whitehall; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sister, Ella (Stanley) Mercer; many nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Fernando Montano; and daughter-in-law, Trish Brown. She outlived all four of her husbands, Madison Brown, Varge Newman, Edward Woodyard, and Ford Hurd. She was also preceded in death by her son, George Brown; daughter, Denise Montano; and her brothers and sisters, Mary, Stan, Earl, Hazel, Lowell, Alice, Edna, Emma, Owen, Doris, Eddie, and John.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 AM – 2 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Fremont Christian Church. For a more lasting memorial friends are asked to consider the Newaygo County Compassion Home. Friends may share memories of Margaret online at www.crandellfh.com.
