Shirley Barrett age 79, of Harlan, KY passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY. Shirley was an active member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Cawood, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Barrett, parents; Virgil and Cuma Kirk Powell, two grandchildren; Caitlyn Elizabeth Barrett and Loren Rebekka Barrett. Father and mother-in-law, Virgil and Mary Barrett and son–in-law Sam Howard.
Survivors include her sisters ; Eva (Charles) Turner of Jonesville, VA, Carnetta (Tom) Moreheart of Upper Sandusky OH Joyce Andrews of Oxford, OH, Ivory Myers of Harlan. Brother; Alvin Powell of Harlan, KY. Sons; Rickie (Alice) Barrett of Jacksonville, FL, Randy (Debby) Barrett of Nicholasville, KY, Rodney (Tina) Barrett of Richmond, KY, Dewayne (Christie) Barrett of Mt Vernon, KY and daughter, Monica Howard of Harlan, KY.
8 Grandchildren; Chris (Patti) of Jacksonville, FL, Samuel (Janie) Howard of Harlan, KY, Trenton Barrett of Nicholasville, KY, Amber, Andrew and Seth Barrett of Mt. Vernon, KY, Josh and Abigail Barrett of Richmond, KY. 3 Great grandchildren; Christopher and Lilli Barrett of Jacksonville, Fl, Devin Nantz of Harlan, KY. One great great grandchild; Lily Nantz of Harlan, KY. Also surviving are many Nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, all of whom she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 6PM until 8PM in the Chapel of the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, the funeral will follow at 8PM with the Rev. Gary Craig officiating.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 11AM at the Lee memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. 470, Shirley Temple Powell Barrett
