James Ernest Holt, 61, of Staffordsville, died Monday at his home.
He was born Set. 25, 1918 at Staffordsville, the son of David Walter Holt and Mary Elizabeth Stafford Holt.
He was for 20 years a bus driver and maintenance man for the Giles County school system.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Woodyard Holt; two daughters, Mrs. Allen (Mary) Sadler, Elliston, & Mrs Jeffrey (Jean) Morris, Pearisburg; one sister, Mrs. Grace Vest, White Gate, one grandson, Allen Dale Sadler.
Funeral services Tuesday...burial in Staffordsville Cemetery. [51767]

Elsie Woodyard Holt, 86, of Pembroke, Va. passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009.
She was born October 9, 1922 at Pearisburg and was the youngest of eleven children of the late George Washington and Lula Mae Linkous Woodyard.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Ernest Holt, six brothers, Clarence, Ray, Emory, Leo, Mark and Clifford (Jack) Woodyard, three sisters, Estella Woodyard, Virginia Wiley, Helen Douthat, and one infant sister.
She was a member of Eaton's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Allen Sadler, of Elliston, Jean and Lee Eaton, of Pearisburg; two grandsons, Allen Dale Sadler and wife, Susan, of Pulaski, Justin Sadler and wife, Michelle, of Dublin; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Sadler; two step great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Bradley Rupe. She is also survived by many, many special nieces, nephews; and a host of close and special friends and extended family from all over Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and Massachusetts who have called, written and visited.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, with Charles Henderson officiating. Burial in the Staffordsville Cemetery. [51766]
