Obituary Online notes for Wade Vernon SQUIRES Sr.
NEWPORT NEWS - Wade V. Squires Sr., 89, a retired engineering technician from NASA, died Monday, Feb. 24.
Mr. Squires retired in 1970 after 25 years of service. A resident of the Peninsula for 52 years, he was a native of Burlington, N.C.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Hampton and the Retired Men's Club of the church. Mr. Squires was also a member of the American Association for Retired Persons and the Merrimac Chorus of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.
Survived by his wife, Eula T. Squires; two daughters, Jane Sloan of Newport News and Nancy Holt of Toano; a son, Wade V. Squires Jr. of Locust Grove; a brother, Herbert Squires of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday at funeral home by the Rev. Larry Diehl. Burial in Peninsula Memorial Park.
