Janet Lynn Edgar Thompson went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Janet was born July 20, 1952 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Arthur Edgar and Connie Whiting. Janet was the oldest of six children, with her parents and brother, Don Edgar preceding her in death.
Janet graduated from Frontier High School in 1970 and married the love of her life, Danny W Thompson on December 4, 1970.
Janet and Danny had three children, Danny W Thompson II, Debbie (Richard) Metheney, and Beth (Timothy) Showalter.
Janet had four grandchildren, Skyler and Becky Metheney and Zachery and Ashton Temesvary. Janet loved nothing better than spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them.
Janet was President of Carlton Oil Corporation, Danny W Thompson Investment, and LMN Enterprises (DBA The JUG). Janet was Fleta's Business Women of the Year in 2009. Janet was very active in the Newport Community with the hometown Christmas, supporting of the local school system, and working the election polls.
Janet loved shopping with her daughters and they were known to be black Friday warriors every year. There was many hours spent laughing and enjoying each other during these times. Janet enjoyed attending car shows, mud bogging, and racing with Danny
Janet is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and siblings, Cathy McCrady, Carol (Darrell) McKay, Frank (Pam) Edgar, Harold (Lisa) Edgar as well as has several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Scott Shawver officiating.
Burial will follow in Newport Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to the Strecker Cancer Center, 401 Matthew Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750. [34938]

Danny William Thompson left this world April 30, 2017 at home in Newport Ohio at the age of 70.
He is survived by his children Danny W Thompson II (Laura Morgan) of Newport, Ohio, Deborah Metheney (Richard) of Grove City, Ohio and Beth Showalter (Timothy) of Little Hocking, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandsons Zachery and Ashton Temesvary, his sister Sue Thompson Pyle, Linda Coleman, and several nieces and nephews.
Danny leaves behind his faithful pet and guard dog, Buddy. He will also be greatly missed by his close friend, Becky Felton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Lynn Edgar Thompson, his parents, Herbert W Thompson and Pearl Nadine Peters Thompson, his brothers, David Wayne Thompson, Richard Eugene Thompson, his sisters Brenda Lee Southern and Sandra Thompson Lester.
Danny was born on October 23, 1946 in Bluefield, WV.
He served in the Army from May 1965 to May 1969 with two years being spent in Vietnam.
Danny married Janet on December 4th, 1970.
He worked his way up to the position of president of Carlton Oil Corporation. While in this position, Danny won several awards in the oil and gas industry. A few of the accomplishments were being inducted into the Ohio Oil and Gas Hall of fame in 2006 and the SOOGA Hall of Fame in 2014. He also received the award of SOOGA Wildcatter for his contributions to Oil and Gas industry. Danny was Fleda Business man of the year for 2005. He served on the Washington County Planning Committee and the Republican Central Committee. He enjoyed restoring cars from the 1950’s and 1960’s and attending car shows. He was often found working in his garage on his latest project. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5108 in Marietta Ohio.
Services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2017, at 2 P. M. at the Ingram Funeral Home, 512 Second Street, St. Marys, WV.
Interment will follow in the Newport Cemetery beside his wife, Janet. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P. M. Friday, and from 1 to 2 P. M. Saturday at the funeral home.
