BOONES MILL, Va. — Sandra Ann (Thompson) Lester of Boones Mill, Va., formerly of Gary, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2008.
Born on January 2, 1948 in Bluefield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Pearl (Peters) Thompson.
Sandra was a very loving and dedicated stay at home mother and grandmother. She enjoyed researching and documenting her family's genealogy and spending time with her close friends. She was an active member of the Redhill Church of God and a supporter of the Virginia Extreme Force Softball and Cave Spring High School Softball Teams.
Sandra was preceded in death by her daughter Sherry Ann Lester.
She is survived by her loving husband James H. Lester Sr. of 45 years and three sons: James H. Lester Jr. and wife Lisa of Roanoke, Eddie D. Lester and wife Lynn of Gary, W.Va., and Cory Jason Lester and wife Christine of Roanoke; as well as her 10 grandchildren: Gregory, Brittany, Cody, Bryana, Karli, Ryan, Tyler, Kayla, Cole, and Chloe.
Sandra was also preceded in death by her sister Brenda Lee Tedder and two brothers Ricky and David Thompson.
She is survived by her brother Danny W. Thompson and wife Janet of Newport, Ohio, sister Geneva Carol (Sue) Pyle and husband Charles of Hoxie, Ark., sister Linda Joe Coleman and husband Roger of Fairview, W.Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 8, at Oakey's South Chapel in Roanoke, Va. with the Rev. Harry Hudson officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Bluefield, Va.
