REIDSVILLE James Lindsey "Jamie" Jones 93, born June 26, 1925, went in peace at the Brian Center in Eden on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.day, 2019.
He was a native of Rockingham County and the sixth son of the late Horace G. and Myrtle May Jones and stepson to Beatrice Apple Jones and lived in Rockingham County his entire life, except while serving overseas near the end of World War II.
He is preceded in death by his son David Lindsey and brothers Gordon Brooks Jones, Howard Gladston Jones, Ernest Hughes Jones, Phillip Grey "Pete" Jones, Rupert Otis "Jack" Jones Sr., and Bernard Moore Jones.
He graduated in June of 1944, where he served as president of the student body.
Upon graduation he was drafted to serve in the US Army. He served in Germany; when he returned from service, he began farming with his father on the family farm on Flat Rock Road located between Haw River and Troublesome Creek. It was here that he was the happiest and at peace: he always said, "Things aren't too bad betwixt and between Haw River and Troublesome Creek."
He later became a commercial egg producer.
He always enjoyed square dancing with family members and listening to music from local musicians.
Upon retirement, he began caning chairs and raising vegetables to sell at the local farmer's market.
James was a lifetime member of Mizpah United Methodist Church where he served as historian and held numerous other positions over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Troxler Jones, and three children: Perry Gladston Jones and wife Teresa Jones, Paula J. Mackey and husband Tom Mackey, and Patrick Jones and wife Jan "Doodle" Jones, all of Reidsville; grandchildren: Jaime Jones Wells and husband Erek of Greenville, PA, Alex Jones and Brooke Mackey Griffith and husband Sam of Reidsville, and numerous nieces and nephews. 470, James Lindsey Jones
