Juanita Wesley Prillaman Powell, 73, of Rocky Mount, Va., went to dwell with the Lord in her heavenly home on Sunday, April 24, 2005.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Cary and Ethel Prillaman; a brother, Saunders Prillaman; a son, Michael Powell; and a daughter, Ethel Irene Powell.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Walter L. Powell, Jr.; five children and their spouses, Deadra and John Gruver, Jr., James and Sandra Powell, David and Cheryl Powell, Juanita and Richard Hodges and Chris and Lisa Powell; eight grandchildren, Karen Gruver, Cheryl Gruver, Michelle and Andy Freeland, Patty Kone, Jamie Powell, Doug Powell, Michael Sink and Christy Sink; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Gruver, Serena, John and Grace Freeland and Kalli Kone; three brothers and their wives, Andy "Bill" and Jeanetta Prillaman of Roanoke; J.C. and Gloria Dean Prillaman of Roanoke and Edwin and Margie Prillaman of Rocky Mount.

Juanita was a long time member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and Franklin County Gideon Auxiliary.

Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends and family at Flora's on Monday, April 25, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
