Aileen was born in Randolph County but lived most of her life in Greensboro, N.C. She was a charter member of St. John's United Methodist Church where she held many volunteer positions. She was employed by Stogner/Bivens Insurance Agency for nearly 40 years. Following retirement, she volunteered with Greensboro Urban Ministries for 35 years and was awarded the Lifetime of Service Award in 2012 by the Mayor of Greensboro. She had a beautiful, loving marriage to Garlan Troxler for nearly 60 years.
Aileen Troxler is survived by her son Gary Troxler and wife Elna of Morehead City, N.C.: daughter Patti Troxler Panetti and husband, Ernie of Rock Hill, S.C.: grandchildren Brian Troxler and wife, Fabiana, Scott Troxler and wife, Ashley, John Troxler and wife, Kristy, Grace Panetti and Coble Panetti. Great-grand children: Alexandre, Nicholas and Isabella Troxler; Ava Troxler; Chandler Almond, Mason and Jaxon Troxler.
Aileen was said to be a person who lived her faith. Her volunteer work, her kindness to others and her unwillingness to speak harshly of others made her a rare example of a person who truly put her Christian faith into action.
Aileen enjoyed sewing, quilting and ceramics. You could find her most nights with needlework projects she called "hand-work" in her lap. Family, friends and St. John's bazaars all received items she made.
Plants, flowers and nature were some of her other passions. House plants seemed to thrive under her care and her backyard was filled with domestic and wild flowers. Garlan and Aileen made many trips to the mountains to walk in the woods and until her death, she would ask for us to describe the flowers we saw that were blooming.
Aileen frequently said her middle name was "Go." She enjoyed going on short trips with her father in the wagon as a child and later in life to run to the store with Elna or Diann when she could no longer drive. During their retirement, Garlan and Aileen traveled several places in the United States with dear friends from St. John's and internationally, with Diann and David.
More than anything mentioned above she enjoyed her family and spent many hours with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a knack for making each child feel special and loved. Family gatherings were always a priority for her and Garlan. Even in her final years, Aileen would always want to see as much family as possible at holidays and special gatherings.
Aileen was preceeded in death by her husband Garlan Troxler, daughter Diann Troxler Price and husband David R. Price, "adopted" son Randy Mullis, parents William V. and Theodosia Routh and siblings Urilla Routh Pugh, Gladys Routh Carroll, Violet Routh Scruggs, Lawerence W. Routh, Charles S. Routh, Dale C.
