Obituary Online notes for Charles Alvin LAWHORN
Charles Alvin Lawhorn, age 85, of Vinton, passed away Thursday in a local hospital.
He was retired from the Vinton Post Office, a World War II Veteran having served with the U.S. Navy, also the oldest member of Vinton Moose lodge, and a member of Vinton VFW Post #3 (life member VFW).
Mr. Lawhorn was preceded in death by his wife, Lora McGeorge Lawhorn.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Norma Jean and A. R. Loyd, Vinton; stepdaughter and husband, Colleen and Bill Keith, Vinton; three sisters, Mrs. G. A. (Glenna) Fluke, Vinton; Mrs. Myrtle Marlowe, Key West, Fla.; Mrs. Maggie Nathe, San Diego, Calif.; grandson, Don C. Loyd; grandson and wife, Chuck and Carolyn Loyd; great-grandsons, Daniel and Aaron Loyd; great-granddaughters, Dawn and Carrie Loyd, Mitzi Keith; two stepgrandsons, Billy and Jimmie Keith; one stepgranddaughter, Carolyn Keith; five stepgreat-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-great-grandchildren; nine nephews; three nieces.
Vinton VFW Post #3 will conduct graveside rights on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery, Chaplain Cecil Irwin will officiate.
